Lüchinger + Schmid AG is a subsidiarie of the Micarna Group subsidiaries and their operations are overseen by the Micarna Egg Business Unit.
Lüchinger + Schmid AG has been part of the Micarna Group since 2015 and is a legally independent subsidiary. The company processes over 500 million eggs every year. The eggs are sorted, screened and processed at either our main plant in Kloten or at our specialist sorting and dyeing facility in Flawil. Since 2019, all Lüchinger + Schmid eggs produced in Switzerland are 100% free-range and organic. As well as fresh eggs, Lüchinger + Schmid offer an extensive range of convenience and pasteurised egg products (whole eggs, egg yolks and egg whites) for the catering and hospitality industry.
Lüchinger + Schmid benefits from the outstanding procurement, production and logistics skills of its 120 or so employees. The company processes more than one million eggs every day, and each and every one of them is weighed, X-rayed and thoroughly tested. Regardless of whether it is organic, free-range, from Switzerland or Europe, every egg can always be traced back to the farm from which it originated. Labels such as ‘Swiss Certified and ‘IP-Suisse’, and initiatives like ‘Ei mit Herz’ characterise the product quality and the animal welfare philosophy of Lüchinger + Schmid.
Business Unit Seafood
The Micarna Group offers its seafood customers a wide selection of top-quality fish and seafood. We supply fish and seafood from all seven seas and from various aquacultures on several continents. We pay close attention to sustainability and only purchase products from responsible sources. To ensure this, we work with an international NGO that continuously monitors our range and supports us in our endeavours to continuously improve. For the most part, we work with long-standing partners who we know well and who we know can guarantee us the best quality.
Freshness and quality are very important to us, which is why we are the only company in Switzerland to operate a salmon filleting line for fresh salmon. But we also check all other types of fish and seafood for freshness and quality according to clear criteria. This enables us to ensure that we offer our customers the best products. In order to deliver the products to our customers as quickly as possible, we are constantly optimising our logistics routes, always with the aim of guaranteeing the best freshness.
Our main customer is Migros, but we also supply other retailers, processors and the catering trade in Switzerland.
