Conserves Estavayer SA (CESA) founded by Gottlieb Duttweiler.

1956

Operations start at the CESA company for canning peas, beans, gherkins, spinach and conserves.

1960

Manufacture of dairy products begins at Estavayer-le-Lac.

Mifroma SA
Foundation of Mifroma SA in Ursy

1968

Tetra Brik for milk

CESA is the first company in Switzerland to market Tetra Brik packaging for milk.

1968

Moudon cheese factory


Moudon cheese factory taken over. Operations at the site ceased in April 2010.

Freshly grated fondue mix
Launch of grated fondue mix, a first for the mass retail market

1998

Estavayer Lait SA

CESA changes its name, becoming Estavayer Lait SA (ELSA).

1999

ELSA and Mifroma merge

2003

Industrial dairy

ELSA becomes the industrial dairy of the Migros Community.

2004

Fromagerie de Moudon

Takeover of the Fromagerie de Moudon. Activity on this site ceased in April 2010.

2010

Schwyzer Milchhuus

Start of the partnership between ELSA-MIFROMA and Schwyzer Milchuus.

2016

Idhéa

Estavayer Lait SA acquires a stake in Idhéa, an Alsatian company specialising in the production and sale of sauces and spices

2017

Increase of ELSA-Mifroma’s stake in Schwyzer Milchhuss from 34 to 60%.

Acquisition SoFine Foods

Acquisition of the Dutch vegan food company SoFine

Acquisition of 100% of the shares in Schwyzer Milchhuss

Aaremilch AG and Simmental Switzerland AG

ELSA-Mifroma Group acquires a 50% share in aaremilch AG and 100% of the shares in Simmental Switzerland AG (as of 01.07.2022)

2023

Fusion ELSA et Mifroma

The two companies of the ELSA-Mifroma Group and Mifroma merge and form the Elsa Group with their respective locations in Estavayer-le-Lac (formerly ELSA) and Ursy (formerly Mifroma)

2025

Fusion Schwyzer Milchhuus AG, Dörig Käsehandel and et Simmental Switzerland AG

The three companies legally merge to form Elsa Group SA and adopt the names Elsa Group Wittenbach I, Wittenbach II, Oey, Seewen, Disentis and Urnäsch. Elsa Group now has 8 sites in Switzerland.
